Given the urgency, an ocean of applications and websites are developing to raise awareness and preserve our beautiful planet! We have selected the five tools that we use in our daily zero waste approach, let's start from scratch:
0) Near me?
We all have a “yes, but” person in our lives. Some of them use this famous expression when it comes to finding zero waste solutions: “ yes, i could get my phone repaired instead of buying a new one, but i don't know where to do it" . With the National Map of Zero Waste Solutions of Zero Waste France, You can help this person find the repair café they need, but not only that! You can find everything related to zero waste there, such as bulk stores, recycling centers, and even the nearest composter.
1) Avoid waste?
And Top! I am a way to avoid transforming unsold items into waste, I am there to help supermarkets, or even in local shops, I am a practical solution for shopkeepers, for students at the end of the month (in the middle, and at the beginning...), and of course for the environment.
" Around 931 million tonnes of food waste were produced in 2019 »
I am… I am… Phoenix ! In Greek mythology, a long-lived bird that regenerates from its ashes. Today, an app that helps put an end to this economic, social and ecological nonsense: food waste (and a partner of Ficha, you can find me on their app). According to the latest “Food Waste Index” from the FAO about 931 million tons of food waste were produced in 2019. You don’t realize what 931 million tons represents? Normal! A hint: it’s a lot! The equivalent of 5,100 “whales” of food (per year) (every year)! You don’t realize what 5,100 “whales” represents? Normal! A hint: it’s a lot!
Otherwise, you have Geev, the first application for donations between individuals. Let's say you're going on vacation and your fridge is full. Thanks to Geev you can give your organic yogurts sourced without gluten, sugar, sweeteners and packaging to your neighbors.
But Geev doesn't stop there! Sofa, armchair, decorations, even your apartment, you can give everything! It's the party of second-hand objects! Speaking of second-hand...
2) A second life?
The Good Corner, the beloved website that helped us find a flat share, is also the king of second-hand goods sales. If you don't feel comfortable giving away what you no longer need, you can sell it at a discount. Buying works too (at an equally discounted price). If you're a Harry Potter fan, you'll be happy to know that we even found a Gryffindor raincoat. And no! We didn't buy it. Remember our last blog on the KISS ? We didn't really need it.
3) How do I dress today?
It's almost impossible to live in France and never have heard of this app. In fact, it's probably one of the most overlooked ads on Youtube, but despite our efforts, they've managed to get their slogan stuck in our heads: "You don't wear it? Sell it!" Vinted has generalized the second-hand market in terms of clothing. You can choose the type of clothing you want based on price, brand, size!
